A showdown between the police and Cord supporters is looming as the planned opposition rally on Saturday is cancelled. Cord leaders have vowed to hold the rally at the city.
Inspector-General of Police David Kimaiyo Tuesday cancelled the planned Cord rally aimed at welcoming back its leader former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who has been in the United States for almost three months. Police cited security concerns and the on-going Madaraka day celebrations for the cancellation.
President Uhuru Kenyatta heads to Rift Valley even as jitters increase
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto are expected to meet Kalenjin leaders during his visit to Eldoret in a bid to stem an impending rebellion by some leaders who claim that they have gotten a raw deal from Jubilee coalition.
